Road To Bahamaland
Road to Bahamaland is principally about where we Bahamians are as a people and the journey which we traveled to get here.
An important aspect of this journey is concentrated on our political development, particularly in the Colonial Era during slavery, as a British-administered colony, and UBP white governance and black political ascendancy during the period of internal self-government.
The path between Emancipation (1834) and Independence (1973) has been 139 years; yet, the psychological scars of slavery and colonialism manifest themselves in the manner in which we have governed The Bahamas and Are also reflected in the socio-economic marginalization of segments of our society. It is the intention of this book to create an awareness of these issues so as to enhance our democracy.
